The first photos here were taken while having brunch at a small café on the island. The remaining were taken while galivanting Sointula and in the boatyard while my partner and I worked on a project. For all the photos I asked my partner to just do things as he would and ignore me, I found this to be a fun subject for taking pictures. Click on pictures to enlarge.
1/6 sec. f/5.6 80 mm ISO:1250 1.1 Rest
1/8 sec. f/5.6 80 mm ISO:1250 1.2 Motion/Labour
Taken at Coho Joes Café in Sointula while waiting for our brunch to be served. I asked my boyfriend to act as if I wasn’t there. First photo – Holding mug to depict hand at rest. Second photo – Drinking from mug to depict hand in motion or “labour”._
1/15 sec. f/5.6 90 mm ISO:1000 2.1 Rest
1/13 sec. f/7.1 90 mm ISO:1000 2.2 Labour
After brunch we decided to galivant the island seeing what the storm from the night before washed up onto the shore. Soon we found ourselves at Tarkanens Marine Ways, the old boat yard, working on a woodworking project. First photo – Thinking over measurements with hands at rest. Second photo – Hands in labour as the plywood is fed through the table saw._
3/10 sec. f/5.6 50 mm ISO:1000 3.1 Rest
1/8 sec. f/9 150 mm ISO:1000 3.2 Rest
Fun juxtaposition between hands at rest in a calm, warm cafe compared to hands at rest while working in a loud, chaotic workshop.
Lightroom
I am very new with LR, so for a tutorial I chose something basic and helpful for beginners.
Lightroom Edit
Original – 1/250 sec. f/10 90 mm ISO: 800 I found that there wasn’t enough vibrancy, dull, and that it was tilted to the left too much, I also found that the white blip and blue circular shape on the right of the image to be distracting.Retouched to have more vibrancy and enriched colour (Contrast, highlights, saturation, etc…). Cropped and rotated minutely to straighten the image. Slightly sharpened and colour noise reduced. The two distractions on the right of the image are also now gone. Screenshot of the edits. I believe I have the wrong Lightroom, will look into that.
